What is a AIP-TV decoder?
A
This plug-and-play device is used to broadcast animated messages on an HDTV. It is available for purchase and comes preconfigured, ready to use.

What equipment do I need to buy to use the service?

2. An HDTV with one HDMI input
3. A wall mount (optional)
4. Hi-speed internet connection (wire or wireless)
Q
Can I use the AIP-TV decoder to manage my account on this website?
A
No. The AIP-TV decoder is not designed to connect to your account. However, your account is accessible at any time and from any device with Internet access.

What equipment is included?
A
We provide the AIP-TV decoder and wires to connect it to your HDTV, but you must provide the HDTV and the appropriate wall bracket, if required.
We do not offer installation services.
 
Q
I already have the equipment; Can you come and set it up?
A
Unfortunately, we do not offer this service. However, following the instructions provided or using our online support, most installation problems can be solved by an inexperienced installer.

Why is it so important to use surge protectors?
A
Power outages or spikes in the electric supply during a storm for example could cause damages to the AIP-TV decoder and your HDTV as well.
It's always best to have a surge protector to plug your electronic devices, and thus protect them.

Can we broadcast on multiple screens?
A
Yes, you can get an HDMI video signal splitter. Check with your video equipment provider.

Are speakers required?
A
No. There is no audio signal for now.

Do I need any special software?
A
No. The AIP-TV decoder comes with all the software required.

Can I use a wireless network?
A
Yes, wireless networks are supported.
When you order the decoder, please let us know if you plan to connect the device to the Internet:
* using a standard Ethernet cable (not supplied);
* via your Wi-Fi.
If you are using Wi-Fi, the following information is required in order to connect to the network:

How do I install the AIP-TV decoder?
A
Simply follow the instructions in the Installation Guide that came with your AIP-TV decoder.

What resolution is required for HDTV?
A
The recommended resolution is: 1080p or 1920 x 1080 pixels. A screen with a lower resolution will have a lower quality image and could be choppy.

Will the digital signage program uses a lot of my Internet connection's bandwidth?
A
No. Video messages and pictures are automatically downloaded from our servers and cached on the AIP-TV decoder. The bandwidth is used mostly when you download new messages and updates.

How do I turn off the AIP-TV decoder?
A
Simply cut the power supply by unplugging the unit. To turn it back on, plug it in again. The AIP-TV decoder is designed to operate as soon as it is connected.

Who will bill me and how often?
A
Your organization will bill you at the beginning of each month in the usual manner.

Will I be able to cancel the service?
A
Yes, you may cancel the service after 12 months. Effective on the last day of the month following your request, your AIP-TV decoder will no longer be able to connect to our servers.

Who determines the content?
A
All content is prepared under the supervision of your organization. To customize your business identification please provide us with your information using the form provided. Feel free to use the same form to send us your questions or suggestions.

Will I be able to choose what content will be displayed on the screen and how?
A
You can preview online the playlist that you were assigned by default. Then, use the form provided to let us know of any changes you would like to make.

Can the content be interactive?
A
This feature is not available at this time.

What is a playlist?
A
A playlist is a list of visual documents that will be displayed on the screen in a particular sequence. Each screen has its own playlist containing a selection of documents made available by your organization.

Do I have to turn off the HDTV and/or the AIP-TV decoder for the night?
A
Technically, no. However, you do not have to leave them on. To save energy, it is recommended that you turn your HDTV off. The AIP-TV decoder consumes very little power and can be left on.

I do not have an Internet connection. Can I still use your services?
A
No. The AIP-TV decoder needs to establish a permanent connection with our servers to be able to display news and weather in real time, and to broadcast current material.

When I run the application, there is a long delay before the content displays. Is this normal?
A
The images may take some time (approximately five minutes) to load on the AIP-TV device. It varies depending on the speed of your broadband Internet connection. However, once the content has been downloaded, the application should broadcast the content without any delays.

I own more than one business. Can I use the same service for all of them?
A
Each business must be registered separately. To do so, simply complete our Add a business form. You can use the same username and password to manage all your businesses.

Can I view the content on a desktop computer?
A
Yes. When you are logged into your account, you will find this option in the menu.

There is more than one screen in my business. Can different content be shown on each screen?
A
Yes. To do so, simply complete the form. You will need to purchase an additional AIP-TV decoder.

How do I report a problem or submit suggestions?
A
Simply log in the AIP-Dashboard and fill out the support form.

How quickly can I expect to get a response?
A
We strive to respond within 48 hours on weekdays.

How much content can I show?
A
There is no "theoretical" limit but we ask you to stick to the suggested playlists. These playlists were created with your customers in mind.

Can I use the AIP-TV decoder for any other purpose?
A
No. It can only be used for digital signage.
Q
What if the screen suddenly becomes erratic?
A
Start by making sure your Internet connection is working. If it is working properly, check all connections and then restart the AIP-TV decoder. This will solve most issues. If your Internet connection is down, wait until it is reestablished before restarting the decoder.

What happens in the event of a power failure?
A
The AIP-TV decoder will restart as soon as the power has been restored. You may have to reselect the correct HDMI source on your HDTV.
If you see a «Server not found» message and you have Wi-Fi, the AIP-TV decoder probably restarted before your modem/router reconnected to the network. Simply restart the AIP-TV decoder once you are sure that the modem/router is connected.

Where should I install my HDTV(s)?
A
You should install your HDTV(s) in places where shoppers and customers who are waiting can read the screen.
Our suggestions:
- On the wall behind the counter
- Facing the entrance
- On the counter near the checkouts
Q
Do I need to obtain a license or is one assigned to me?
A
No license is required, but each business that uses the service must be registered and approved by your organization. Your organization may decide to discontinue providing the service at any time.

How long will does it take to update software or content?
A
All software and content updates are performed automatically on your decoder.
